The scientific potential of the Medical University of Gdańsk is constituted by over a thousand academic employees and over 300 doctoral students – who are involved both individually and as team members in the implementation of national and international research projects, and are actively publishing in the national and international scientific circuit. Among them there are many winners of prestigious awards, members of scientific societies and advisory bodies. This potential was confirmed by the inclusion of the University in the prestigious group of ten Polish universities awarded in the Excellence Initiative – Research University competition initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It is the only medical university that was awarded the status of research university.
The aim of the project is to popularise major scientific achievements of the Medical University of Gdańsk employees, as well as their impact on the development of modern medical tools and the patients’ quality of life. Each month we shall present a different profile of an individual researcher, along with his/hers scientific interests and most recent scientific achievements. We believe that our initiative, apart from its popularizing dimension, will contribute to dissemination of good practices in terms of pursuing scientific excellence.
The featured research projects were selected by the Scientific Council appointed for the purposes of the project. The Council consists of the employees of the Medical University of Gdańsk:
Prof. Miłosz Jaguszewski
Prof. Michał Markuszewski
Assoc. Prof. Anna Żaczek, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc.
