This is the most numerous group of patients with acute stroke, who in spite of a sufficiently early reaction (treated at the emergency and stroke units), are not currently provided with a standard treatment which would potentially restore cerebral blood flow and thus provide a chance of radically improving their prognosis; except for a relatively small percentage of these patients who may undergo mechanical thrombectomy.
