Ischemic strokes treatment

During the course of his research Prof. Bartosz Karaszewski, Head of the Department of Neurology and the Department of Adult Neurology, will assess the effectiveness of a new ischaemic stroke therapy scheme for people who take the so-called oral anticoagulants.

This is the most numerous group of patients with acute stroke, who in spite of a sufficiently early reaction (treated at the emergency and stroke units), are not currently provided with a standard treatment which would potentially restore cerebral blood flow and thus provide a chance of radically improving their prognosis; except for a relatively small percentage of these patients who may undergo mechanical thrombectomy. Project entitled Pharmacological reperfusional treatment of ischemic strokes in patients taking oral anticoagulants is financed by the Medical Research Agency.
